Safe and Eco-Friendly Materials

BamBoo Bears™ were born when the founder of Planet Fred decided to make a replica of her childhood teddy bear, Fred. She learned that in order to dye polyester fleece, she would have to use acid dyes and wear protective gear. Instead, she decided to create a bear made from safe, natural substances such as bamboo, organic cotton and hemp. All of these materials are grown without the use of pesticides. BamBoo Bears are safe for all ages, and meet or exceed all United States and European Union toy safety standards, including ASTM F963 and CE standards.

Planet Fred’s Story

BamBoo Bears™ are part of the Planet Fred™ family. Planet Fred’s philosophy is that a child’s imagination is his or her greatest asset in playtime, and that a simple, natural toy helps to spark creativity. BamBoo Bears’ creator, Sandra, says “When I was a kid, the original Fred bear helped me build my imagination and self confidence. I still have Fred today. In fact, he was recently the ring ‘bear-er’ at my wedding. Go ahead, make BamBoo Bears part of your family’s lasting memories!”

Safe and Green

BamBoo Bears are made with the finest natural materials. Each bear’s fur is 70% natural bamboo and 30% organic cotton fleece. The ears, feet, paw pads and tail are made of 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton. All materials are dyed with low-impact, cold water dyes. Bamboo and hemp are hardy plants that grow without pesticides. They have natural anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties. Organic cotton is grown without the use of harsh pesticides that can pollute the earth and leave residual chemicals in the fabric. The bear’s stuffing is made from renewable, hypoallergenic corn-based fiber.

Planet Fred is committed to preserving and restoring our environment. We will donate a one tree for every six BamBoo Bear sold to the National Arbor Day Foundation for the planting of new trees.
